Booking terms and conditions
Last updated June 2026
These terms apply when you book a stay at Taigh Tuaram through this website. Please read them before you book; paying for a booking means you accept them.
Your booking
A booking is a contract between you and Murdo Macleod, trading as Taigh Tuaram, the owner of Taigh Tuaram. Your booking is confirmed once payment has been taken and you have received a confirmation email with a booking reference. The person making the booking must be 18 or over and is responsible for everyone in the party.
Prices and payment
Prices are shown per night in pounds sterling (GBP) and are set by the season. The total for your dates is shown before you pay, and that total is the full price: there are no separate booking fees, card fees or cleaning charges, and we do not take a security or damage deposit. Payment is taken in full at the time of booking through Stripe, our payment processor.
Arrival and departure
Check-in and check-out times are given in your confirmation. Please treat the cottage and its surroundings with care and let us know promptly of any breakage or damage.
Using the cottage
The cottage is let for holiday use only and for the number of guests on your booking; please do not exceed that number. We do not allow parties or events. The cottage is non-smoking. Pets are welcome. You are responsible for the behaviour of your party and for the cost of any damage or loss caused during your stay, including any caused by pets, which we will contact you about after you leave.
Changes and cancellations
Cancellations and refunds are covered by our cancellation policy. If you need to change your dates, contact us as early as you can and we will help where we are able to. Because you are booking accommodation for specific dates, the 14-day right to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply; our cancellation policy applies instead, so please read it before you book.
Island experiences
Any island experiences such as boat trips or guided tours that we mention are arranged informally and directly with us. They are not sold or paid for as part of your accommodation booking, and are not a package or linked travel arrangement.
Our responsibilities
We will provide the cottage as described. In the rare event that we cannot honour a confirmed booking, for example because of damage that makes the cottage unsafe, we will let you know as soon as possible and refund what you have paid. Beyond a full refund, our liability is limited to the extent allowed by law, and nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
We are not responsible for events outside our control, such as severe weather or disruption to ferries and travel, and we recommend taking out travel insurance to cover your trip. Where we have to cancel for such reasons, a refund of what you have paid is the limit of what we owe you.
If something is not right
If anything is not as it should be during your stay, please tell us straight away so we can put it right.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and any dispute is subject to the Scottish courts.
